Qi Men Dun Jia · 奇門遁甲
QMDJ: time, direction and interpretation.
Qi Men Dun Jia—often shortened to QMDJ or Qimen—is a Chinese divination and cosmological system that uses symbolic patterns of time and direction. This is a neutral starting point, not a prediction or professional consultation.
QMDJ groups are not open yet. AMV does not offer readings or consultations.

A tradition of time, direction and interpretation
Qi Men Dun Jia (奇門遁甲) belongs to a broad and diverse landscape of Chinese divination traditions. It is commonly described as a system for arranging temporal, directional and symbolic relationships in a chart, then interpreting those relationships in relation to a question or situation.
Traditional accounts connect QMDJ with legendary figures and military strategy, but origin stories should not be treated as settled historical fact. Historical study places Qimen techniques within longer Chinese calendrical, cosmological and military-divination traditions.
What a beginner may encounter
An introductory learner will often meet a nine-palace grid: eight directional sectors and a centre. Depending on the school, a chart may bring together calendrical cycles with symbolic elements translated as stems, gates, stars and spirits.
The exact terms, translations, chart-building rules and interpretive priorities vary across teachers and traditions. A useful first step is to learn the vocabulary, ask which lineage is being used and understand the chart’s internal logic before attempting conclusions.
- A question is placed in context rather than answered by one symbol
- Traditional cycles provide a way to frame time
- Direction and relationships among symbols are central
- Interpretation is contextual and can differ between practitioners
Broad use is not a promise of an outcome
Practitioners may discuss QMDJ in connection with strategy, timing, travel, direction or personal reflection. These are descriptions of customary interpretive use—not evidence that a chart can predict events, control circumstances or determine another person’s choices.
Keep consequential decisions grounded in relevant evidence and qualified help. QMDJ is not a substitute for medical care, mental-health support, legal advice, financial planning, emergency services or informed consent.
